• AGP Slot (1x) - For adding an AGP graphics card. There are 2x AGP slots, 4x

AGP slots and Universal AGP slots.

• PCI Slots - For adding PCI cards for graphics, sound, network, modem, RAID,

SCSI or other expansion cards.

• ISA Slot(s) - For adding legacy ISA cards usually for sound, network or

modem, These slots are less and less often present on mainboards because

only PCI versions of those cards are available for sales. If you do not have a

legacy ISA card that you still wish to use you can forget kind of slot.

• USB ports (2x minimum, 4x or 6x with extra USB adapter cable) - These

ports are for connecting a myriad of USB devices. Because most modems,

mice, printers and scanners can now connect to the fast USB ports the Serial

and Parallel ports are usually becoming less used and those unused ports can

then be disabled in the BIOS.

• IrDA header (1x) - Most of our mainboard have an IrDA-header on the

mainboard where you can attach an IrDa adapter like the ACTiSYS IR210L

for example. With some mainboards you have to use the BIOS settings:

"Serial Port 2 Mode"="IrDA"

"RX,TX active"="Hi, Hi"

"Delay"="Enabled".

There is an IrDA header on most of our mainboards for connecting an IrDA

connector from the mainboard to the casing. Our QDI Infrared port supports

two IrDA standards, one is Intel spec (5-pin), another is SMC spec (4-pin),

as illustrated in the following table:
